These are the Jonestown Special Reports from Time and Newsweek Dec 1978.Darlene Laverdure sent them to me. On the Weiss archives you will find meeting notes of the meetings, before and after Jonestown, that Maureen Griffo sent. In these notes, Stewart calls the brethren "Cult members" for the first time. He exclaims that they are in a "cult." Stewart seemed to be the only one in COBU reacting to Jonestown. He put his spin on it and avoided outside questions. I think he also hated the FF being likened to the Children of God. We all do remember how Stew said we were in a cult, but never took responsibility for creating it. It was the older brothers and sisters fault. Strange though. He repented in 1989 for having taught error. He kinda claimed responsibility but as soon as questions were raised about him stepping down....he went back to "How stupid we were not to catch the error , or being dumb enought to listen to him.Remember the Grace Meeting "Why didn't anybody tell me, I was going wrong?" And is Gayle also responsible? I heard accounts of Gayle preparing the sisters of Princeton before Stewart came to tuck them in. So read these articles and don't ignore the parallels.
